Say hello to Amy
I am a stay-at-home mom in Salt Lake City, Utah. I grew up in Midcoast Maine and am a country girl at heart. I have an undergraduate degree in sociocultural anthropology and a graduate degree in teaching social studies. In between degrees I worked as a corporate ethnographer for product design and strategy firms. Where I'm at right now, however, at home with a baby, a small flock of chickens and something tasty on the stove, is by far my favorite career yet. I love sharing my experiences with urban homesteading, natural family living, being an LDS mom, bee keeping, attachment parenting, raw food and whole food cooking, yoga practicing, urban chicken "farming," unschooling and whatever else is inspiring me. I love the internet as a vehicle for connecting like-minded people and creating communities of support and encouragement. I hope that this site can serve to inspire, validate and encourage other women and families who are making similar choices or perhaps to stimulate curiosity in those for whom some of these ideas are new. I invite your ideas, questions, encouragement, stories and thoughts.

Sweater Pants
So, after getting all inspired from the felting book I made Sam some Autumn/winter duds. He won't wear the vest (which I haven't finished) and the pants together (that would just be weird), but they did come from the same cable knit sweater.
I was thrilled with how much I was able to take advantage of the already existing shapes in the upcycled clothing I used. The legs of the pants are the sweater sleeves.
I added a waistband because there wasn't enough material in the sleeves to make a roomy seat to accommodate bulky cloth diapers (though maybe Sam will be out of them this winter? Here's hoping!)
And I used the cuff from a pair of old, funky pants, so the hem served as the spot to slide the elastic through!
It was one of the quickest pairs of pants I've made for Sam and I love seeing his little bird legs all cable-knitty and cozy. I can't wait until the weather is a little chillier and he can wear them.
Do give her a visit and enjoy!
xoxo Brandy

Brandy~ Lovely place you created and I will miss it, but I completely understand. I've had to cut back on my "blog time" to focus and prioritize. It's a tough balance, but it sounds like you've got it all figured out.

Thanks so much for the mention! Looks like the sneak peak didn't make it in, but come on over and have a peek at a whole bunch of posts!
Cheers!
